the FOUND
One of my all time favorite card companies just debuted a new line and I'm so excited to share it with you! the FOUND recently debuted their new Matchbox line. This is their fourth line in addition to their Busted, Americana, and Newsprint lines. the FOUND is based out of Chicago and is inspired by a collection of found ephemera... they re-discover items and re-invent and re-purpose them. And they do a great job at it!

My personal matchbox favorite is their Yee Haw Horse. The inside greeting reads, "Hey lucky, It's your birthday." Pretty great, I'd say!

Their re-discovered, re-invented, and re-purposed inspired products can be found here (no pun intended!).

it's here {national stationery show}!
This weekend I am headed to New York for the most anticipated week of my whole year... The National Stationery Show! Last year was my first year and I've been counting down the days until going again. I just can't wait, it has become quite an obsession of mine over the past few weeks. I've been receiving a ton of really inspirational, exciting, and beautiful mail lately and I'll tell you, it's much better than receiving just bills. So fun!

I am so excited to see many of my favorite companies that we already work with including Smock, Wiley Valentine, Elum, the Found, Hello Lucky, Cavallini, and more + I am very excited to see a few favs that I haven't seen in awhile including BirdDog Press and a. favorite design. Not to mention all of the new companies that are on my list! Looks like I'll be one busy (and sociable) girl!
Here is a little sneak peek at some things that I am super excited for... Linda + Harriett's 2011 calendar, new noteblocks from Crane & Co, coasters by Peggy Wong for Crane & Co, and some new office supply items from Girl of All Work. The list goes on and on and on... New York, here I come!

open house recap
Our Open House was a huge success! Lots of people came out for the event and made all of the planning well worth it! Customers seemed to have had lots of fun and enjoyed the 20% discount on holiday merchandise by stocking up on gift items, greeting cards, ribbon, stationery, and wrap!
Guest vendors the FOUND and Kate Funk made the day extra fun! Albert from the FOUND brought tons of old photos and assisted people in making their own one of a kind greeting cards. He also inspired lots of customers to do the same with their old photos at home. It was too cute. And we loved the free buttons!

Kate Funk was all set up with a nice display of her new styles. Customers really enjoyed meeting Kate and learning that she lives right here in Milwaukee. It was so nice for customers to put a face to the products that they are buying. And AC even made his special guest appearance as promised!

Debi from The Blooming Quill was a huge hit too! Lots of people took advantage of Debi's amazing talent. And many watched in awe as she did her calligraphy magic. Debi truly was the icing on the cake!

I hope everyone had just as good of a time as I did! Between the discount, demos, appearances, treats, and photos, I am certain everyone had a great time! I am counting the days until our next event (which will be the day after Thanksgiving- more details to come)!

All in all, it was a great event! Thank you to all of our customers who came out and a huge thanks to the FOUND, Kate Funk, and The Blooming Quill!

the FOUND
I'm so excited to announce more details about our Holiday Open House that will take place this coming Saturday, November 14th from 9 am until 5pm! the FOUND will be coming from Chicago and joining us for the day!
Similar to my beginnings with The Blooming Quill, I discovered the FOUND at The National Stationery Show. You can find their products right here on our webstore. Jim & Albert, the masterminds behind the scenes, are really supportive and generous people to work with. They're really wonderful! I couldn't be happier that they'll be joining us for our big event... I'm so excited and honored!

the FOUND finds their inspiration in vernacular photography and will be here doing a card making project! We'll use found photos, blank cards and vintage style photos corners to create your own-one-of a kind cards that you can take home for free. You can send your new handmade cards to friends or family! You are welcome to bring in your own family photos or use one of the Americana snapshots from the 40s and 50's that the FOUND will provide.

The point of the project is to take old photos, your own or ones found in antique shops, flea markets or thrift stores and give them new meaning. the FOUND are always inspired by images from the past, so why not pull out your old snapshots and turn them into something new and inspired? And why not at our Holiday Open House?

open house
Join us from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for a day filled with holiday inspiration, promotions, festive demos with free samples, and multiple giveaways! We have lots of things planned for the day! So many things that I can't keep it all straight... I'm so excited!

A few of our favorite vendors will be here, so you'll get the chance to meet the people behind the magic. Kate Funk will be displaying all of her latest holiday designs and her cat, AC, will make a special appearance at 1pm. the FOUND will be here all day and you'll have a chance create your own one of a kind card with them. The Blooming Quill will be here showing off her amazing calligraphy skills. We'll also have a photo booth from Celebrations Entertainment in the afternoon.
If that's not enough... we'll also be having multiple giveaways throughout the day. We'll be giving away product from Compendium, Simple Song, Snow & Graham, Table Topics and many more vendors! I'm a little disappointed I cant win anything! Maybe I'll enter under an alias (just kidding)!
And did I mention... 20% off holiday product for the whole day? This event is not to be missed... many more details to come. In the meantime, mark your calendars one week from today!

introducing the FOUND
I'd like to officially introduce the FOUND to the bwp world! I first met the folks behind the FOUND at The National Stationery Show... they were recommended to me by a friend. I went to their both and ended up staying there- just chatting for awhile. They're out of Chicago.. so we had the whole Midwest connection going on. They just might be coming up for a visit one of these days too!
Their cards are hilarious. I often hear people in the store cracking up while reading their cards. They find vintage photos or mugshots and use them on the face of the cards and then they stick some catchy or sassy phrase on them.
Some people were skeptical when I came back from New York and was bragging about them... since they don't really visually fit into the store. Nonetheless, they seem to be rather popular in the store. Plus, I sent this one to my grandpa for his 82nd birthday and he approved. If you have my grandpa's approval... you know you're in business!
We've had their cards in the store for awhile and they just got put up on the web. Here's a photo of when they first came in (I was so excited, I just had to take a picture!).

Here are a few more shots from the FOUND. . .

And here they are on the racks in the store. They just look like they belong! They've been flying off the shelves but a few can still be found online here.
