unlucky

I may be taking a bad-karma risk here, but I'd really like to talk about this. This is the box of items we received back from a magazine that wanted to feature some of the products we carry.

We sent them a slew of things, and then when they decided to push our feature back a month, they called for even more items, which we gladly sent.

I realize I'm a paper freak, and dare I go so far as to call myself a paper snob?  But really? Tire tracks on the Jack & Lulu {yellow} box? And I'm positive we sent the Snow & Graham memo cube in one piece.

That's probably all I should say about that.

IMHO... you should make a phone call... that's unacceptable and unprofessional. stick up for your artists and their hard work!

{sigh} ... i'm sorry this happened to you. i was a publicist for many years -- first for a fashion brand, then for a well-known furniture design company. you'd be appalled at the condition stuff comes back in (ie., cigarette packs in the pockets of clothes worn by models!), and the stuff that doesn't come back at all (how do you "lose" a piece of furniture on a shoot!?).

i work at the, ahem, 'unlucky' company and the amount of product that comes in and out for different spreads is overwhelming. they have young, inexperienced assistants packing things up and sending them back. there's little attention or care paid. i feel badly, but i see it all the time ...

Same thing as Jordan. I work in the fashion industry and we sent samples and boards to buyers all the time. We carefully wrap everything in bubble wrap and in plastic bags and they never come back the same way, or if at all. So you are lucky you got most the of the stuff back. But I share your deserved frustration

oh that's terrible -- all that pretty paper!

So disrespectful. People don't realize the care that goes into some things, and the resulting care that you wrap them with.

Geez, that's awful!

so frustrating when people don't see the value and importance in what you see. :( but hopefully they'll give you a rockin' review!

Sad. :( Yes, let's hope they give you a great review, after that!

ugh, that poor paper!!! but at least you got some of the stuff back. i send out sample requests almost every day and i'm always shocked when something makes its way back at all.

I just found this post, and as a past and future customer of Broadway Paper, I am sad about the poor condition of the sample items you sent to the magazine. It was clear to me which magazine is the culprit here - "unlucky" indeed - and it also saddens me as a current subscriber of theirs. Coincidentally, I also began to feel skeptical about the same publication. In their current issue, they are running a contest in which entrants may win a LARGE gift certificate (hundreds of dollars) for holiday paper, decorations and other holiday-themed items. However, upon reading the "fine print," I discovered that the winner(s) of the contest will only be announced in JANUARY. I'm not sure how a huge gift certificate for Christmas or Hannukah items is supposed to help a potential winner a month AFTER the holidays, but oh well.
