oh dear...deer!

Dear Bloggers,

While you're watching out for deer on the road, watch out for deer in the stationery world! Deer seem to have quite the presence in this year's holiday line-up. I love seeing all of the different designs of deer and along with that, all of the different sayings that involve "dear."

Here are three of our cards that reference dear and have deer on them. I love each one of them! It is so interesting to see if designers write "dear" or "deer." People fancy these cards, especially here in Milwaukee, because they are perfect for the deer lover dear to their hearts!

pearl & marmalade holiday

I'm pretty much in love with anything Pearl & Marmalade makes but, their holiday line really takes the cake! Pearl & Marmalade is based right out of Chicago, so it's great knowing these cards are made so close to home. And the two ladies who make them are just as sweet as their cards! Every time I receive an order, I find a sweet personal handwritten note in the box just for me. It's quite a nice touch!

I just about melted when I received our holiday order. It's full of brontosauruses, deer, bears... And lots of really great quotations like "I want to hibernate with you." Super cute! They have really great designs and colors. What's not to love?

In addition to their fabulous holiday and everyday card lines, Pearl & Marmalade has a 2010 calendar. Can you even imagine seeing Pearl & Marmalade everyday of the year? I can and I will since mine is already hanging on the wall in anticipation for using it in three weeks. It's so beautiful!

Their holiday cards are going fast, so be sure to check out our collection. All of Pearl & Marmalade's beautiful cards and calendar can be found right here on our webstore.

christmas in the ward & santa

The Historic Third Ward has some really great festivities planned for this weekend! The 21st annual Christmas in the Ward is already underway and tonight there will be a holiday tree lighting ceremony, real live reindeer, a holiday concert, and fireworks! I am so excited for this!

Broadway Paper also has some fun festivities planned for the weekend. Santa will be visiting tomorrow from 9am until noon. He'll be here handing out some fun treats for the little ones as well as some coupons for the adults. And we'll have Belgian chocolate covered cheesecake lollipops. Mmmm! There will be lots of BWP goodie giveaways tomorrow too. Many other retailers and restaurants will have promotions tomorrow as well. This is the event of the season and is truly not to be missed!

la familia green holiday

La Familia Green is one of my favorite vendors. They are really great people and live really close too! Such a great combination! I'm always so excited to order with them since the package comes all neat, pretty, and colorful. Such a way to brighten my day! And sometimes there is candy in the package too! What a treat!

In addition to La Familia Green being so great and living in Chicago, they use really great products. Their paper and envelopes are 30 to 100% post consumer recycled and their clear sleeves are biodegradable, sustainable, and compostable. Plus, they donate a percent to all of their sales to Chicago no-kill animal shelters. Their dog, stickers, especially loves that part!

And if this isn't already convincing enough, their designs are just great. I'm really into their style. Who wouldn't want a luchador Feliz Navidad card? This card is just hilarious and they have some other really great holiday designs too. You can see the whole collection of their wonderful cards here.

pantone mugs

We just got a huge shipment of Pantone mugs in the other day and they're already up on the new arrivals page on the webstore. Just in time for the holidays! These mugs are so great... and they come in twenty colors!

Each mug features a shade from the world famous Pantone graphic color matching system designed in the 1960s. Along with the mug comes a tag with a clever little question... the olive 5757c mug asks if you have green fingers and the duck egg 337c mug asks if you're pale and interesting. They're really great! And they'll be gone soon, so be sure to order your favorite Pantone color right away!

photo booth pics

One of my all time favorite things in life is a good old photo booth. I've always loved these and have quite a personal collection of strips! And now I have even more! Celebrations Entertainment came from Madison and set up our very own photo booth for our Open House that was held this past weekend. It was very fitting and very fun! Customers took their photos for free and even got to take a strip home with them!

Our customers came in style and lots took advantage of the opportunity. Some needed a little convincing.. but either way, we had lots of fun! And here is the evidence of just that! Some photo strips from the event... and I will be posting lots more in the upcoming weeks!

open house recap

Our Open House was a huge success! Lots of people came out for the event and made all of the planning well worth it! Customers seemed to have had lots of fun and enjoyed the 20% discount on holiday merchandise by stocking up on gift items, greeting cards, ribbon, stationery, and wrap!

Guest vendors the FOUND and Kate Funk made the day extra fun! Albert from the FOUND brought tons of old photos and assisted people in making their own one of a kind greeting cards. He also inspired lots of customers to do the same with their old photos at home. It was too cute. And we loved the free buttons!

Kate Funk was all set up with a nice display of her new styles. Customers really enjoyed meeting Kate and learning that she lives right here in Milwaukee. It was so nice for customers to put a face to the products that they are buying. And AC even made his special guest appearance as promised!

Debi from The Blooming Quill was a huge hit too! Lots of people took advantage of Debi's amazing talent. And many watched in awe as she did her calligraphy magic. Debi truly was the icing on the cake!

I hope everyone had just as good of a time as I did! Between the discount, demos, appearances, treats, and photos, I am certain everyone had a great time! I am counting the days until our next event (which will be the day after Thanksgiving- more details to come)!

All in all, it was a great event! Thank you to all of our customers who came out and a huge thanks to the FOUND, Kate Funk, and The Blooming Quill!

more open house details

I have a few last details to announce for our Holiday Open House. I can't believe all of the details that go into one event. I am so excited, I don't know what I'll do with myself when this is all over with (Oh yeah, we have a lot more holiday events to plan after this one!).

Here are the final details...

In addition to The Blooming Quill, Kate Funk, the FOUND, we will be having lots of sweet treats from two really great people from Cedarburg. Delicately Delicious and From Scratch Catering will be catering the event. I recommend both of these companies for any sweets or catering needs you might have. Bring your sweet tooth and come taste for yourself!

Don't forget to dress to impress since we're going to have a photo booth from Celebrations Entertainment out of Madison. They're coming all the way down just for our event. I've always loved photo booths and have quite a personal collection, so this couldn't be more fitting! You'll even be able to take your photo strip home with you as a keepsake of our event.

And remember that all of our holiday product will be 20% off.

Giveaway details and photos to come. . .

open house giveaways

I've been waiting all week to post this blog entry. This is such an exciting one! In addition to all of the other events that we have planned, we'll be having lots of giveaways and drawings throughout the day tomorrow for our Holiday Open House

I sent out a few emails last week about our event and received so many supportive and generous responses. I still cannot believe the response that I received from our vendors. This makes me feel so good!

A lot of our vendors have been more than generous in providing us with really wonderful treats for our giveaways. We'll be giving away gifts all throughout the day from Simple Song, Crash Candles, Smock, Snow & Graham, the FOUND, and Table Topics

We have a lot more planned for the holiday season and there will be many more giveaways from many more of our generous vendors. Here is a schedule of what we have planned for the season... be sure to watch for more giveaway updates.

Cross your fingers and we'll see you tomorrow, Saturday, November 14th from 9am until 5pm for our Holiday Open House.

the FOUND

I'm so excited to announce more details about our Holiday Open House that will take place this coming Saturday, November 14th from 9 am until 5pm! the FOUND will be coming from Chicago and joining us for the day!

Similar to my beginnings with The Blooming Quill, I discovered the FOUND at The National Stationery Show. You can find their products right here on our webstore. Jim & Albert, the masterminds behind the scenes, are really supportive and generous people to work with. They're really wonderful! I couldn't be happier that they'll be joining us for our big event... I'm so excited and honored!

the FOUND finds their inspiration in vernacular photography and will be here doing a card making project! We'll use found photos, blank cards and vintage style photos corners to create your own-one-of a kind cards that you can take home for free. You can send your new handmade cards to friends or family! You are welcome to bring in your own family photos or use one of the Americana snapshots from the 40s and 50's that the FOUND will provide.

The point of the project is to take old photos, your own or ones found in antique shops, flea markets or thrift stores and give them new meaning. the FOUND are always inspired by images from the past, so why not pull out your old snapshots and turn them into something new and inspired? And why not at our Holiday Open House?

kate funk + ac

Another very special guest that will be at our Holiday Open House is Kate Funk. Kate lives right here in Milwaukee and actually used to be an employee of Broadway Paper! Kate has a really funny line of cat cards and a cat calendar. AC is about three years old and she got him from a no-kill shelter in Milwaukee when he was just a kitten. Little did he know then that he would be a cat model later in life! And a good one at that!

Kate will be here all day on Saturday, November 14th, displaying all of her latest designs. AC will also make a special appearance at 1pm. And the rumor is... he might be also available for some signings! Some of Kate's cards can also be found on our webstore.

We're so excited for Kate and AC to be here. I can hardly wait to meet AC in person. Although, it seems as if he is a bit nervous about his debut. It seems as if he is having a hard time picking out what to wear for his big day... You can read more about that story here. AC will see you Saturday!

the blooming quill

I am extremely honored that The Blooming Quill will be joining us for our Holiday Open House! Debi Zeinert, the calligrapher extraordinaire behind The Blooming Quill, does beautiful work!

I first fell in love with Debi's work when she addressed my cousin's wedding invitations. It was love at first sight when I got the invite in the mail! I met Debi in person last May at the National Stationery Show and she has been extremely supportive, kind, and helpful to me since.

Debi was with Smock at the National Stationery Show and she calligraphed this piece of Smock paper for me while I was waiting. It was like watching magic... I couldn't believe my eyes. It was so beautiful to watch her work. This piece of paper was my favorite piece of swag from the Show. I've kept the paper in my office ever since and it's so amazing to think she'll be here for our Holiday Open House!

Everyone is welcome to have Debi address a few envelopes for them (please remember to bring addresses) or we will also be providing paper for Debi to use. Debi will be here from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at our Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 14th. Please come witness the magic and beauty of The Blooming Quill!

Join us from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for a day filled with holiday inspiration, promotions, festive demos with free samples, and multiple giveaways! We have lots of things planned for the day! So many things that I can't keep it all straight... I'm so excited!

A few of our favorite vendors will be here, so you'll get the chance to meet the people behind the magic. Kate Funk will be displaying all of her latest holiday designs and her cat, AC, will make a special appearance at 1pm. the FOUND will be here all day and you'll have a chance create your own one of a kind card with them. The Blooming Quill will be here showing off her amazing calligraphy skills. We'll also have a photo booth from Celebrations Entertainment in the afternoon.

If that's not enough... we'll also be having multiple giveaways throughout the day. We'll be giving away product from Compendium, Simple Song, Snow & Graham, Table Topics and many more vendors! I'm a little disappointed I cant win anything! Maybe I'll enter under an alias (just kidding)!

And did I mention... 20% off holiday product for the whole day? This event is not to be missed... many more details to come. In the meantime, mark your calendars one week from today!

give studio

A few weeks ago I received a special visit from our friends at Give Studio. They traveled all the way from Holland, Michigan to see me (and their Uncle)! They treated me to lunch and we had a great time. We stopped at the store afterwards... Anne and I had a little photo shoot!

I even got a goodie bag filled with their new designs. It felt like my birthday... So many beautiful things! I could hardly decide on a favorite. Everything they make is so adorable!

We have a few of their items still in stock here and after seeing their new designs, I'm pretty sure we'll be carrying a lot more of their products!
Thanks for the visit Give Studio!

believe promotion

I am so happy to announce this wonderful news! Broadway Paper has been chosen to participate in an amazing promotion... We get to help Compendium in introducing their brand new gift-book title.

The Believe book is the perfect gift. Similar to many of their other books, the quotations and sentiments in this book are really inspiring. This book reminds us that the future does belong to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams (something I should remind myself of everyday!).

And the promotion part? Well, with every purchase of this book... you will receive a free accompanying Believe notebook. This notebook is also filled with inspirational and hopeful quotations. The notebook is just as gorgeous as the book!

The book can be found in the store and also in our webstore. This book is truly beautiful! I have one sitting on my desk, and I can't seem to stop staring at it and paging through it. It's a great gift for all occasions... plus you get a free notebook!

circle street

I first came across Circle Street at the Renegade Craft Fair last month. It was love at first sight! Their booth was so perfect for their style of stationery. And, their cards are just beautiful... I couldn't resist.

So, a few weeks after The Renegade Fair, Circle Street stopped by Broadway Paper and I got to have an exclusive buying session! It was too fun! A week later I got a box in the mail- and it was full of beautiful cards, not cereal! It felt like an early Christmas gift (but for the store!).

Lindy sews and types all of her cards by hand... with her green sewing machine and vintage corona typewriter. She offers a ton of different paper colors, stitches, and thread patterns. And the best part of her work- she makes everything in Appleton, Wisconsin. How amazing! It's such a great feeling knowing these cards are made by hand and right here in our own state!

Circle Street single cards and boxed sets are available in the store as well as in our webstore. They are on our new arrivals page and look just beautiful! They've been going quickly in the store... so you better get them while you can!
