more open house details

I have a few last details to announce for our Holiday Open House. I can't believe all of the details that go into one event. I am so excited, I don't know what I'll do with myself when this is all over with (Oh yeah, we have a lot more holiday events to plan after this one!).

Here are the final details...

In addition to The Blooming Quill, Kate Funk, the FOUND, we will be having lots of sweet treats from two really great people from Cedarburg. Delicately Delicious and From Scratch Catering will be catering the event. I recommend both of these companies for any sweets or catering needs you might have. Bring your sweet tooth and come taste for yourself!

Don't forget to dress to impress since we're going to have a photo booth from Celebrations Entertainment out of Madison. They're coming all the way down just for our event. I've always loved photo booths and have quite a personal collection, so this couldn't be more fitting! You'll even be able to take your photo strip home with you as a keepsake of our event.

And remember that all of our holiday product will be 20% off.

Giveaway details and photos to come. . .

open house giveaways

I've been waiting all week to post this blog entry. This is such an exciting one! In addition to all of the other events that we have planned, we'll be having lots of giveaways and drawings throughout the day tomorrow for our Holiday Open House

I sent out a few emails last week about our event and received so many supportive and generous responses. I still cannot believe the response that I received from our vendors. This makes me feel so good!

A lot of our vendors have been more than generous in providing us with really wonderful treats for our giveaways. We'll be giving away gifts all throughout the day from Simple Song, Crash Candles, Smock, Snow & Graham, the FOUND, and Table Topics

We have a lot more planned for the holiday season and there will be many more giveaways from many more of our generous vendors. Here is a schedule of what we have planned for the season... be sure to watch for more giveaway updates.

Cross your fingers and we'll see you tomorrow, Saturday, November 14th from 9am until 5pm for our Holiday Open House.

the FOUND

I'm so excited to announce more details about our Holiday Open House that will take place this coming Saturday, November 14th from 9 am until 5pm! the FOUND will be coming from Chicago and joining us for the day!

Similar to my beginnings with The Blooming Quill, I discovered the FOUND at The National Stationery Show. You can find their products right here on our webstore. Jim & Albert, the masterminds behind the scenes, are really supportive and generous people to work with. They're really wonderful! I couldn't be happier that they'll be joining us for our big event... I'm so excited and honored!

the FOUND finds their inspiration in vernacular photography and will be here doing a card making project! We'll use found photos, blank cards and vintage style photos corners to create your own-one-of a kind cards that you can take home for free. You can send your new handmade cards to friends or family! You are welcome to bring in your own family photos or use one of the Americana snapshots from the 40s and 50's that the FOUND will provide.

The point of the project is to take old photos, your own or ones found in antique shops, flea markets or thrift stores and give them new meaning. the FOUND are always inspired by images from the past, so why not pull out your old snapshots and turn them into something new and inspired? And why not at our Holiday Open House?

kate funk + ac

Another very special guest that will be at our Holiday Open House is Kate Funk. Kate lives right here in Milwaukee and actually used to be an employee of Broadway Paper! Kate has a really funny line of cat cards and a cat calendar. AC is about three years old and she got him from a no-kill shelter in Milwaukee when he was just a kitten. Little did he know then that he would be a cat model later in life! And a good one at that!

Kate will be here all day on Saturday, November 14th, displaying all of her latest designs. AC will also make a special appearance at 1pm. And the rumor is... he might be also available for some signings! Some of Kate's cards can also be found on our webstore.

We're so excited for Kate and AC to be here. I can hardly wait to meet AC in person. Although, it seems as if he is a bit nervous about his debut. It seems as if he is having a hard time picking out what to wear for his big day... You can read more about that story here. AC will see you Saturday!

the blooming quill

I am extremely honored that The Blooming Quill will be joining us for our Holiday Open House! Debi Zeinert, the calligrapher extraordinaire behind The Blooming Quill, does beautiful work!

I first fell in love with Debi's work when she addressed my cousin's wedding invitations. It was love at first sight when I got the invite in the mail! I met Debi in person last May at the National Stationery Show and she has been extremely supportive, kind, and helpful to me since.

Debi was with Smock at the National Stationery Show and she calligraphed this piece of Smock paper for me while I was waiting. It was like watching magic... I couldn't believe my eyes. It was so beautiful to watch her work. This piece of paper was my favorite piece of swag from the Show. I've kept the paper in my office ever since and it's so amazing to think she'll be here for our Holiday Open House!

Everyone is welcome to have Debi address a few envelopes for them (please remember to bring addresses) or we will also be providing paper for Debi to use. Debi will be here from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at our Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 14th. Please come witness the magic and beauty of The Blooming Quill!

Join us from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for a day filled with holiday inspiration, promotions, festive demos with free samples, and multiple giveaways! We have lots of things planned for the day! So many things that I can't keep it all straight... I'm so excited!

A few of our favorite vendors will be here, so you'll get the chance to meet the people behind the magic. Kate Funk will be displaying all of her latest holiday designs and her cat, AC, will make a special appearance at 1pm. the FOUND will be here all day and you'll have a chance create your own one of a kind card with them. The Blooming Quill will be here showing off her amazing calligraphy skills. We'll also have a photo booth from Celebrations Entertainment in the afternoon.

If that's not enough... we'll also be having multiple giveaways throughout the day. We'll be giving away product from Compendium, Simple Song, Snow & Graham, Table Topics and many more vendors! I'm a little disappointed I cant win anything! Maybe I'll enter under an alias (just kidding)!

give studio

A few weeks ago I received a special visit from our friends at Give Studio. They traveled all the way from Holland, Michigan to see me (and their Uncle)! They treated me to lunch and we had a great time. We stopped at the store afterwards... Anne and I had a little photo shoot!

I even got a goodie bag filled with their new designs. It felt like my birthday... So many beautiful things! I could hardly decide on a favorite. Everything they make is so adorable!

We have a few of their items still in stock here and after seeing their new designs, I'm pretty sure we'll be carrying a lot more of their products!
Thanks for the visit Give Studio!

believe promotion

I am so happy to announce this wonderful news! Broadway Paper has been chosen to participate in an amazing promotion... We get to help Compendium in introducing their brand new gift-book title.

The Believe book is the perfect gift. Similar to many of their other books, the quotations and sentiments in this book are really inspiring. This book reminds us that the future does belong to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams (something I should remind myself of everyday!).

And the promotion part? Well, with every purchase of this book... you will receive a free accompanying Believe notebook. This notebook is also filled with inspirational and hopeful quotations. The notebook is just as gorgeous as the book!

The book can be found in the store and also in our webstore. This book is truly beautiful! I have one sitting on my desk, and I can't seem to stop staring at it and paging through it. It's a great gift for all occasions... plus you get a free notebook!

circle street

I first came across Circle Street at the Renegade Craft Fair last month. It was love at first sight! Their booth was so perfect for their style of stationery. And, their cards are just beautiful... I couldn't resist.

So, a few weeks after The Renegade Fair, Circle Street stopped by Broadway Paper and I got to have an exclusive buying session! It was too fun! A week later I got a box in the mail- and it was full of beautiful cards, not cereal! It felt like an early Christmas gift (but for the store!).

Lindy sews and types all of her cards by hand... with her green sewing machine and vintage corona typewriter. She offers a ton of different paper colors, stitches, and thread patterns. And the best part of her work- she makes everything in Appleton, Wisconsin. How amazing! It's such a great feeling knowing these cards are made by hand and right here in our own state!

Circle Street single cards and boxed sets are available in the store as well as in our webstore. They are on our new arrivals page and look just beautiful! They've been going quickly in the store... so you better get them while you can!

bwp is holiday part II

Most of our holiday product is officially up on the webstore! It feels great to see everything that I've been ordering over the past four months in one place. I think we have a great selection! Beautiful holiday wrap... stationery.. candles.. magnets. The list goes on and on!

We're still working on getting everything up on the web. This is a very lengthy process! Very soon we'll have everything that is available in the store, available on the webstore. Make sure to keep checking back to see new holiday items!

bwp is holiday!

The smell of evergreen and the look of red and green is all around at Broadway Paper. We have began putting out our holiday merchandise over the weekend and we're still at it! The store has totally transformed. It looks so beautiful! But, I keep wondering if this ever ends?!?! There's always more!

Once Christmas is actually here, I'm worried I won't be too excited for it anymore. Sounds like I better do my Christmas shopping now or else I won't be the best gift giver! Good thing I can buy my gifts here... I'm hoping my family loves Broadway Paper as much as I do since this is where I am doing my shopping!

gallery night reminder

As I mentioned earlier in the week, eleven art teachers from the Oak Creek School District will be here exhibiting their artwork tomorrow night at Gallery Night. I've been receiving tons of e-mails from former teachers of mine that are planning on coming down. This will be a walk down memory lane!

A first grade teacher from Oak Creek and also a family friend, Aimee Griswold, wrote me and said, "I’ve always been curious about the type of art work that our teachers create. And of course, it will be great to see you again."

I am so happy to host such an event that benefits not only my store, but also the community. Oak Creek has been very supportive and helpful in promoting this event.

The Oak Creek Alumni Association contacted me and posted the event on their site. They also interviewed me and posted the interview on their website.

In addtion to the art, there will be fresh flowers from Urban Sense and cupcakes from Delicately Delicious. Great scents.. great eats.. and great art!

Gallery Night
Friday, October 16th

beautiful photos of bwp!

I first came across Jennica's work while spotting her photographs on another blog. I investigated a little bit and found out that she is based right out of Sheboygan and a few months ago she took some really beautiful photographs of my store and I've been meaning to post them!

You can see more photos of the store here. Jennica will be here this Saturday for our final bridal seminar of the year. I am hoping she will take more photos of the store too! I'm so greedy! As you can see, she does beautiful work and I would recommend her to anyone. Thanks for the beautiful photos and keep them coming, Jennica!

gallery night 10.16

Gallery Night is a week away and I'm so proud to announce our plans for the night! I grew up in Oak Creek (a suburb of Milwaukee) and attended the Oak Creek school district from kindergarten to twelfth grade. My mom has been employed by them for over twenty years.

The school district has been very helpful and supportive of my family and I throughout the years... so I have invited their art department into my store for Gallery Night. Eleven art teachers from the Oak Creek school district will be here exhibiting their art: Wendy Bagatta, Diane Balsley, Carrie Collins, Meagan Hahn, Paula Kalke, Dan Kreif, Anthony Lauer, Emily Luck, Nicole Ulander, Sabrina Weiland, and Karen Wyderka.
Karen Wyderka was my art teacher in 5th grade... Paula Kalke was my art teacher from grades 6th to 8th...and Wendy Bagatta hosted a jewelry making birthday party for me in middle school. I have met many of the other artists over the years as well.. and some I'll be meeting the first time on Gallery Night. Quite the crew!

Gallery Night is Friday, October 16th, from 5 - 9. Please join us!

holidays are approaching!

If you've been wondering where I've been lately... I've been here- under all of our holiday boxes. We have more boxes back here than I've ever seen before. It is getting very cozy.

I've been busy day and night printing up labels for all of the merchandise. I used to work at Broadway Paper as the receiving girl.. and I thought those days were over with once I bought the store- but I thought wrong!

And to make matters worse, I have figured out how to log in to the store remotely so I can create and print labels from the comfort of my own couch! And at all hours of the night! And in my pajamas!
This is my life! But it is the life I wanted... so I love it!
More to come once I find a home for all of these boxes!
